A young cello virtuoso, Abel Selaocoe navigates through various musical styles, redefining his relationship with the instrument each time. With talent and generosity, he journeys across continents and collaborations, exploring diverse universes such as classical music, jazz, and beatboxing.
In his trio Chesaba, joined by bassist Alan Keary and percussionist Sidiki Dembele, Abel also lends his voice—a powerful, deep, electrifying voice. Chesaba is dedicated to celebrating Africa and its history, encompassing traditional griot music to South African township sounds.
