The story of a friendship. And like all stories, it’s surprisingly stunning.

In the late 1990s, Cyril Atef and Vincent Segal acted as DJs in a Parisian bar, albeit without turntables. Instead, they used their instruments: drums and percussion for one, cello for the other. Their idea, as innovative as it was eccentric, involved inventing nightly performances, improvising based on the ambiance of the moment, perhaps even influenced by the weather. It worked, people danced, and the duo quickly adopted the name Bumcello. It's been going on for over twenty years. Perhaps it endures because the duo comes from different backgrounds—Cyril Atef embodies the troubadour while Vincent Segal's destiny is entwined with the notes of the cello. So, one might seem bewildering and the other classical. But maybe the reverse is true; you never really know. What's certain is their repertoire boasts eight albums, the latest being "monster talk," released in 2018.

However, attending a Bumcello concert isn't like experiencing their studio-recorded albums. Once again, Bumcello does things differently; their tours always carry the taste of novelty and surprise. For their new album, "The Party," Vincent's son Marin illustrated storyboards to inspire the recording. This new album takes Bumcello on an 80-day journey with even more trance, dance, and nostalgia for their departed friends. A Bumcello concert is unlike any other Bumcello concert. Thus, it's highly recommended to see them and revisit often.
