Cheick Tidiane Seck

Close 12 / 54

After collaborating with Jimmy Cliff, Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul, Santana, Salif Keita, Ornette Coleman, Manu Dibango, Archie Shepp, Black Eyed Peas... Cheick Tidiane Seck, a Malian artist, has established himself as a seasoned pianist throughout his 50-year career. And it's not over yet. A testament to this is the album he recorded in 2019 under the label Komos, "Timbuktu," an eight-track homage to pianist Randy Weston (1926-2018). An indefatigable traveler—both by plane and through music—Cheick Tidiane Seck has constantly shuttled between Mali, Abidjan, New York, and Paris to lend his touch to the albums of others (as listed earlier) before finally recording his own triumphant album, "Mandingroove" (2003), at the age of fifty. The union between the Mandingos (a West African people) and groove. That's what you call a signature album
