Born to Haitian parents and raised in Guadeloupe, Kery James, whose real name is Alix Mathurin, stood out at a very young age for the quality of his finely crafted lyrics and his sensitive soul. At the age of eleven, young Kery James caught the attention at the MJC d'Orly (young people’s association) with his talents as an author, dancer, and rapper. He began his career within the collective Mafia K'1 Fry. A major figure in French rap for almost thirty years, Kery James continues to reinvent himself and surprise audiences. His rap, tinged with a fervent commitment against inequalities, is part of a humanistic approach guided by a resilient optimism. Achieving numerous successes, the artist has sold over 700,000 albums in recent years, filled 7 Olympia venues, 4 Zéniths, 2 AccorArenas, and gathered nearly 100,000 spectators around his first play "À Vif". Recently associated as an author with the Théâtre National de Chaillot, Kery James once again achieves success with his second film "Banlieusards 2" (available on Netflix) and his second theater piece "À Huis Clos" currently touring throughout France.
